Saints of Melanesia Project Ground Breaking A Success

A partnership agreement between the Anglican Church of Melanesia (ACOM) and the New Zealand Melanesia Mission Trust Board (MMTB) is enabling the construction of ACOM’s new three-story office in the heart of the capital, Honiara. The original office was built in 1967, and was demolished on March 16, 2021.

The successful ground breaking ceremony was held yesterday November 20th, by the Anglican Church of Melanesia to officiate works on their new provincial headquarters. This program began at around 4pm, with remarks delivered by ACOM GS Dr Abrahim Hauriasi, Archbishop Leonard Dawea, MMTB Chair Mr Roger Kerr, Minister for MTGPEA Jamie Vokia, and representatives of James Cubitt Architects as well as FMC Pacific.

The event was also attended by the Managing Director of Hatanga Ltd, Mr Jay Bartlett, Managing Director for BY Group Ltd Mr Malcolm Devin, FMC Pacific’s Mr Rick Bagby,  the Honiara City Council Lord Mayor Eddie Siapu, and the New Zealand Deputy High Commissioner to the Solomon Islands Rebecca Williams.
