Tuvalu Maritime Project

We’re pleased to share our current regional involvement in an initiative supporting critical maritime infrastructure in Funafuti, Tuvalu.

In partnership with BY Group who are managing delivery, and TCS engaged as the contractor, we are helping to upgrade the Police Maritime Workshop and wharf in Funafuti, a key piece of infrastructure supporting Tuvalu’s Guardian Class Patrol Boat, gifted by the Australian Government under the Pacific Maritime Security Program.

On the ground in Funafuti

Our civil engineer, Valo Lakoa, is on the ground in Funafuti supporting delivery and coordination of the project. Having a member of our team based on site ensures close, hands-on leadership and strong day-to-day coordination with local stakeholders.

The project has now progressed into the structural rebuild phase, with timber framing work and brace ply installation already well underway. The wharf upgrade itself is scheduled to commence later this year, marking the next major milestone in the project.

Building climate-resilient infrastructure

Beyond the physical works, this project is deepening our understanding of what it means to deliver not just quality infrastructure, but climate-resilient infrastructure. It’s a responsibility that carries particular weight for our neighbouring small island nation, one facing the urgent realities of climate change.

Working alongside local communities and partners on this project reinforces our commitment to delivering infrastructure that is built to last, and built with resilience.

We look forward to sharing further updates as the project progresses, including the commencement of the wharf upgrade later this year.
